Exciting news - after the unfortunate and unavoidable cancellation of the Bristol Art Show in 2009, there is now news that the Bristol Art Show will return in 2011 in a brand-spanking new format. Keep your eyes open for more news about this later in 2010
The Bristol Art Show started in 2006 as a response to the British Art Show’s arrival in Bristol with a conspicuous lack of actual Bristol artists. After brief discussions amoung the members of the Centrespace Committtee, the Bristol Art Show was born.
The Flagship event at Centrespace and run by the Gallery Committee of professional artists and our brilliant volunteers the Bristol Art Show is open to anyone with a BS postcode the Gallery Committee annually produce a show of an extremely high standard, which grows in strength year on year.
In 2009 we have a slightly different show in mind, open submissions with a twist! There are several sponsored prizes on offer, first prize being a week - long solo exhibition at the gallery. 2007's winner, Sarah Cocking, exhibiting with Alice Hodge, had a fabulous mixed media show entitled ‘Clean’ which pulled in national newspaper coverage including an article in the Guardian by photographer Martin Parr.
Our 2008 Centrespace Prize winner was Rose Popay this year with her fantastic film 'Reform with Rose Popay'
